Overview

Lud's Church is a rock fissure in Back Forest above the River Dane, not a church building. Movement of a mass of gritstone opened the chasm; it is distinct from the exposed Roaches ridge.

Getting there

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust describes a woodland approach from Gradbach car park through Back Forest to the chasm. Check the reserve manager's visitor information and current signs; the catalogue pin is not the car park.
